In a sudden and unexpected move, Grand Chief Randall Phillips announced that he is leaving First Nation politics. The Chiefs Council of the Association of Iroquois and Allied Indians (AIAI) accepted the resignation at a special meeting held on September 19, 2011. Though Grand Chief Phillips recently entered his second term with AIAI, September 30, 2011 will be his last day of office.
